The History of the Vol Network!

Lindsey Nelson

Although he broadcast Vol football for only 3 years, '48-'50, Lindsey Nelson pioneered what we know today as the "Vol Network", along with General Neyland (pictured above).

George Mooney and Bobby Foxx

George Mooney picked up where Nelson left off and the Vol Network exploded during his tenure from '51-'67. Former Vol great Bob Foxx was Mooney's color analyst from '60-'67.

John Ward

Ward with his original basketball partner Lowell Blanchard in '67.

John Ward took over in '68 as Voice of the Vols and was joined by former Vol Bill Anderson that year. The two broadcast Vol football together for 31 seasons, appropriately calling their last game in the Fiesta Bowl for the National Championship this past season.
