October 13, 1990 at Knoxville

Tennessee, which had blown open several games in 1990 in the first half, didn't follow script on a picture perfect night at Neyland Stadium which pitted the #2 Vols vs the #7 Gators.

The Vols, leading 7-3 at intermission, took the game in hand on the opening kickoff of the third stanza as Dale Carter returned the kick 91 yards for a score. That invigorated the Vol offense and defense and before the end of the quarter the Vols had put up 28 points and the game in hand.

Tony Thompson ran for one score, freshman linebacker Reggie Ingram intercepted a pass for another and Carl Pickens caught a 47-yard pass from tight end Von Reeves for another.

Greg Burke added a 4^th period field goal and Sterling Henton scored on a 1-yard run to close the scoring.
