RUNNING THROUGH THE "T"

When Doug Dickey took over as head coach of the Vols in 1964, he moved the team bench to the west sideline so the Vols would have their backs to the sun and be shaded for the majority of the game. Because the dressing room was under the East stands then, this allowed the band to form the giant "T" and the team could run through it to the West sideline. The first game for this tradition was the '65 opener against Army.
